Benson Ford Chair, Transplant and Hepatobiliary Surgery Director, Henry Ford Transplant Institute Professor of Surgery, Wayne State University Medical Center Dr. Marwan Abouljoud is the founding Director of the Transplant Institute and Hepatobiliary Surgery and is the Benson Ford Chair in Transplantation at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, and current Director of Physician Partnerships. Dr. Abouljoud has served as a Councilor on the American Board of Surgery. He is Past President of the American Society of Transplant Surgeons. Dr. Abouljoud has been with the Henry Ford Medical Group since 1994. He is the recipient of the Dr. Fred Whitehouse Distinguished Career Award and the Dr. William Conway Quest for Quality Award. He has also served as Chief Medical Officer. He is past Chair of the Board of Governors. Dr. Abouljoud cofounded the Physician Leadership Institute. Dr. Abouljoud was the inaugural Chair of the Business Practice Committee and is immediate past Founding Chair of the Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council for ASTS. Dr. Abouljoud has obtained a Master’s Degree in Medical Management from Carnegie Mellon University. Areas of interest include liver cancer, living donor liver transplantation, resilience, mindful practices, and leadership development.
